To tackle the flood situation in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Government has taken swift and decisive action. While many administrations remain tied up in meetings during crises,
The Mann Government acted immediately after assessing the ground reality. An initial ₹2 crore was released as relief funds, and eight cabinet ministers were deployed across affected areas, demonstrating that the government is not limited to announcements but is actively sharing the hardships of the people. A special Girdawari (crop damage assessment) has also been ordered to evaluate agricultural losses.
Over the past three years, ₹276 crore worth of flood-prevention infrastructure has been developed, and its effectiveness is now evident. These measures, no longer just plans on paper, have successfully safeguarded communities during the crisis, reflecting the government’s emphasis on prevention and preparedness alongside relief.
In Tarn Taran and Ferozepur, Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal and Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar inspected the Dhussi embankment along the Sutlej River, visited villages, listened to residents, provided immediate assistance, and reassured them of the government’s support. Similarly, Hardeep Singh Mundian visited Sultanpur Lodhi, while Dr. Balbir Singh held a meeting with officials in Kapurthala to review relief measures.
The Mann Government’s approach combines administrative efficiency with humanitarian concern. During heavy rains and flood conditions, it has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the people, working on the ground rather than just distributing relief for cameras. Unlike the opposition, which focuses on statements, the Mann Government demonstrates that public service is delivered through action, not slogans.
Today, the people of Punjab recognize a government that is present on the frontlines during crises. The Mann Government’s efforts have not only provided relief but also built trust and showcased humane leadership. In times when many administrations distance themselves from the people, this proactive approach has reinforced the government’s place in the hearts of the public, making the people of Punjab proud of their leadership.
