MasterChef India judge Kunal Kapur
Celebrity chef Kunal Kapur was granted a divorce by the Delhi High Court on Tuesday due to mistreatment he received from his divorced wife.
Celebrity chef Kunal Kapur received a divorce on Tuesday from his estranged wife, according to the Delhi High Court, which ruled that her treatment of him lacked empathy and decency.
The high court granted Kapur’s appeal against the family court’s decision to deny him a divorce, stating that it is a well-established legal stance that publicly making careless, slanderous, humiliating, and unfounded accusations against one’s spouse is cruel.
Given the previously mentioned facts of this case, we conclude that the respondent’s (wife’s) behavior toward the appellant (husband) has been lacking of both empathy and decency.

A panel of Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Neena Bansal Krishna declared, “When such is the nature of one spouse towards the other, it brings disgrace to the very essence of marriage and there exists no possible reason as to why he should be compelled to live while enduring the agony of living together.”
The divorcing couple wed in April 2008, and their son was born in 2012.
In his plea,Kunal Kapur—a judge on the television program “Master Chef”—accused his spouse of demeaning him and never showing him any respect.
However, the lady countered that he was lying to the court and that she was faithful to her husband and always tried to speak with him like a loving spouse.
But she had claimed that he had concealed information from her and made up false allegations in order to get a divorce.
The court held that while disagreements would inevitably arise in any marriage, the marriage itself loses its sacredness when such disagreements manifest as disregard and contempt for one spouse.
“It is relevant to mention here that within two years of marriage, the appellant has established himself as a celebrity chef, which is a reflection of his hard work and determination….
“Considering the aforesaid facts, it is only prudent to observe that these are mere allegations made by the respondent to disrepute the appellant in the eyes of the court and such unsubstantiated claims have the effect on one’s reputation and therefore, amounts to cruelty,” the bench said.
