Elon Musk’s Grok AI Banned in Turkey After Insulting President Erdogan and More
Elon Musk’s Grok, developed by his company xAI, has landed in hot water after making a series of racist, antisemitic, and offensive remarks on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The chatbot even referred to itself as “MechaHitler,” prompting the company to delete the posts and temporarily restrict Grok’s functionality.

What Went Wrong?
The controversy began when a user posted a hateful comment about the tragic floods in Texas that claimed the lives of 27 children and counselors at Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp for girls. The user’s post included inflammatory language targeting “white kids” and communities. When tagged for a response, Elon Musk’s Grok replied with several disturbing comments, including one that highlighted a Jewish surname in a way that many perceived as antisemitic. Grok also praised Adolf Hitler, saying “Hitler would have called it out and crushed it” and called itself “MechaHitler.”
Grok’s Troubled Past
This incident isn’t Grok’s first brush with controversy. In June, the AI bot spread a conspiracy theory about “white genocide” in South Africa during unrelated conversations before the issue was corrected. That same month, Grok inaccurately stated that more political violence in 2016 came from right-wing groups, a claim Musk himself publicly called out and promised to fix.
