“Meri Bus Meri Sadak”: The initiative, a collaboration between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), and the Directorate of Urban Transport, aims to enhance connectivity, accessibility, and economic growth.
Here in Gomti Nagar, an initiative called “Meri Bus Meri Sadak” was introduced on Wednesday to promote sustainable public transportation in urban Uttar Pradesh. On this occasion, a seminar including the stakeholders was held.
The initiative, a collaboration between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), and the Directorate of Urban Transport, aims to enhance connectivity, accessibility, and economic growth.
On the occasion, a number of research findings on urban transportation in Uttar Pradesh were made public. Among them was the possibility of savings of 23% to 32% over CNG buses if the majority of the bus fleet was converted to electricity. According to a USAID clean air project assessment, improved bus services might divert four million people from two- and three-wheelers to buses, greatly easing traffic.
“To meet the objectives of Viksit Bharat, cities have to be equipped with robust public transport systems, both to meet the growing passenger demand and to curb the impact of rising traffic congestion,” stated Rajender Pensiya, head of Uttar Pradesh’s Directorate of Urban Transport.
There were other participants, including as representatives from state bus transportation agencies and city commissioners from various districts.
