A fresh political controversy has erupted in Delhi’s Burari Assembly constituency over alleged demolition activities in the Miln Vihar area, reportedly carried out under O-Zone regulations.
Local MLA Sanjeev Jha has strongly criticized the ongoing actions, alleging that demolition work is being conducted in the presence of heavy police deployment, creating fear and distress among residents.
According to the allegations raised by Jha, residents were repeatedly assured by government representatives, including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, ministers, and Members of Parliament, that no demolition would take place within O-Zone designated areas. However, ground-level reports suggest that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is continuing demolition activities on a daily basis.
The controversy has intensified further with claims that the demolition is taking place on land where a court stay order is already in effect. If confirmed, this raises serious legal and administrative questions regarding compliance with judicial directives and urban planning norms.

Sanjeev Jha has accused the authorities of acting contrary to public assurances and has demanded immediate intervention. He stated that such actions undermine public trust and affect economically weaker sections who risk losing their homes.
He further demanded that the issue be addressed at the parliamentary level, calling for a clear legal framework regarding O-Zone policies. His key demand includes revisiting or removing restrictive O-Zone provisions to protect housing rights of affected families.
Residents of Miln Vihar have also expressed concern, claiming that they were not given adequate notice before the alleged demolition drive began. Many families reportedly face uncertainty regarding their shelter and future.
On the other hand, official responses from the administration and DDA remain limited. Sources within the DDA maintain that all actions are being taken as per the approved master plan and regulatory guidelines.
As the situation develops, the issue has become a focal point of political debate in Delhi, highlighting the ongoing conflict between urban planning enforcement and rehabilitation concerns.
