Ministe Mahipal : Seminars to be held for suggestions from academicians at universities, colleges, and schools
- Statewide seminars and street plays to promote the New Education Policy
Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda said that the state is fully prepared to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Although the Indian government aims to implement this policy by 2030, Haryana plans to roll it out by 2025. The campaign to promote the new policy will begin on 12 January 2025, marking Swami Vivekananda Jayanti. As part of the initiative, seminars will be organized to gather feedback from educators at universities, colleges, and schools. Suggestions will also be sought online through audio, video, and written formats. Additionally, students will use street plays to spread awareness about the NEP.
The Education Minister said this during a review meeting with Education Department officials at the Education Bhawan in Panchkula today.
Shri Dhanda directed officials to work together to realize ’s vision. He emphasized that Haryana should become a model for implementing the NEP across the country, and instructed the Education Department to prepare a detailed action plan for this purpose.
To directly engage students with the policy, Minister Mahipal Dhanda suggested setting up suggestion boxes in colleges, schools, and universities. Based on the written suggestions received, a framework will be developed to improve the NEP.
He further urged that seminars should be conducted in schools, colleges, and universities to ensure that every student understands the NEP clearly. He also encouraged the collection of suggestions from students, and wherever difficulties are encountered, solutions should be explored.
Recognizing the role of digital technology in the modern era, the Minister proposed creating an online portal for students to submit their suggestions remotely. This portal will also be open to the general public, educators, and experts in the field of education, ensuring easy access for everyone to contribute. This will help prevent any difficulties for students in the upcoming academic session.
Minister Mahipal Dhanda also announced that rural areas would be involved in discussions about the NEP. Villages with larger populations will be identified for widespread dialogue on the policy.
Additionally, he suggested appointing athletes, NCC cadets, and talented students as brand ambassadors for the NEP. Their influence will help students connect with the policy more easily.
The Minister emphasized that the NEP’s goal is to include students from disadvantaged backgrounds in the education system. He instructed the Education Department to devise a strategy to ensure no underprivileged student is deprived of education.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary for Higher Education, Sh. Vineet Garg, Director Sh. Rahul Hooda and other officials.
