Minister Aman Arora Showcases Key Achievements Aiming to Position Punjab as a Leading State
Punjab’s Minister for New and Renewable Energy Sources, Employment Generation, Skill Development, Training, and Governance Reforms, Minister Aman Arora, hoisted the National Flag during the district-level Republic Day celebrations at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Stadium in Jalandhar on Sunday.
While addressing the district-level event, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora urged Punjabis to collaborate with the state government in transforming Punjab into a progressive and prosperous “Rangla Punjab.”
Highlighting the state government’s commitment to comprehensive development under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Minister Aman Arora pointed out several significant initiatives. These include renaming SAS Nagar Airport in honor of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and displaying portraits of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in government offices. He also noted that the Mann Government began its tenure by taking the oath in Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s native village, Khatkarkalan.
Paying tribute to the sacrifices of the armed forces, Minister Aman Arora announced that the ex-gratia amount for martyred army personnel has been doubled to ₹1 crore, with similar financial support extended to the families of police personnel who gave their lives in the service of the nation.
Minister Aman Arora also emphasized the government’s efforts to combat unemployment, highlighting the provision of 50,000 government jobs and facilitating placements for over 2.7 lakh youth in the private sector through placement drives.
The Minister highlighted significant advancements in healthcare and education. He revealed the establishment of 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics offering free medical services to over 19 lakh patients, including 66 clinics in Jalandhar. Additionally, 118 Schools of Eminence were set up to provide world-class education, along with free transportation benefiting over 10,000 students.
In the power sector, Minister Aman Arora pointed out the acquisition of a private thermal plant for ₹1,080 crore and the revival of the Pachwara coal mine, which resulted in ₹1,000 crore in savings. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing free electricity to farmers, amounting to ₹9,330 crore annually.
Minister Aman Arora praised the government’s irrigation projects, including a ₹275-crore initiative in Jalandhar, and road safety measures like the Sadak Surakhya Force, which has improved response times and saved countless lives in road accidents.
Minister Aman Arora concluded by celebrating the success of “Khedan Watan Punjab Dian,” which saw the participation of over five lakh people, with the aim of revitalizing the state’s sports culture. Earlier, he took the salute at the parade led by IPS officer Siri Vinnela. He also honored the families of ten martyrs from various conflicts, including the India-China War, India-Pakistan War, and encounters in J&K.
Among the prominent attendees were MLA Raman Arora, Mayor Vineet Dhir, Divisional Commissioner Arum Sekhri, DIG Naveen Singla, District and Session Judge Nirbhow Singh Gill, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, Senior AAP Leader Rajwinder Kaur Thiara, Pawan Tinu, and senior officials from the Civil and Police Administration.
