Minister Aman Arora vows to persist until the drug menace is entirely eradicated from the state.
Punjab Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president, Minister Aman Arora, on Saturday, called upon political parties, social and religious organizations, and NGOs to unite with the Punjab Government in a collective effort to make the state drug-free.
Speaking to the media after a high-level meeting of the five-member Cabinet Sub-Committee tasked with tackling the drug crisis, Minister Aman Arora emphasized that combating drug abuse is the shared responsibility of Punjab’s three crore citizens. He stressed that the state government and police alone cannot undo the damage caused by previous administrations.
Expressing confidence in Punjab’s ability to overcome this challenge, Minister Aman Arora highlighted the vision of AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for a healthier and more prosperous state. He stated that the Punjab Government has devised a comprehensive 360-degree action plan to eliminate drug abuse, focusing on prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. While law enforcement is taking strict action against drug traffickers, they have been instructed to handle drug users with empathy, treating them as individuals in need of help.
Minister Aman Arora underscored the severe impact of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society, declaring that this is a battle that must be fought together. He called for the active participation of all stakeholders to effectively address this crisis.
“I assure you, we will not stop until we completely eradicate this menace from Punjab. This is a fight for the very survival of our state, which has a rich legacy of saints, sages, and warriors. The previous governments deliberately led Punjab into this crisis for their own gains,” he asserted. Minister Aman Arora also issued a stern warning to drug smugglers, urging them to either abandon their illegal trade or leave Punjab, or else face severe consequences.
Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to cracking down on drug smugglers, Minister Aman Arora appealed to parents and families of drug users to seek help from government-run de-addiction centers or OOAT clinics. He assured that the state has made adequate arrangements for the care and rehabilitation of drug victims. If anyone faces difficulties in accessing treatment, he encouraged them to reach out to local authorities for immediate assistance, assuring them of the government’s unwavering support in overcoming this crisis.
