Punjab Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, government schools are being transformed through the ‘Punjab Sikhya Kranti’ initiative by equipping them with modern infrastructure and up-to-date facilities. He made these remarks while inaugurating development projects worth ₹1.41 crore across nine government schools in the Lehragaga constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Barinder Kumar said that the Punjab Sikhya Kranti campaign is driving comprehensive improvements in the state’s government education system. These efforts are boosting student morale and instilling confidence among parents that government schools are a reliable choice for their children’s future.
He added that due to the Mann Government’s impactful steps, many students are now shifting from private to government schools—proof of the growing trust in the state’s education model. Teachers are also being trained at top national and international institutes to adopt modern teaching methods.
Minister Barinder Kumar further highlighted various public welfare schemes introduced by the Mann Government, emphasizing its commitment to upliftment and social justice. He said the government is fulfilling Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s vision by including six Scheduled Caste ministers in the Cabinet, implementing reservation in the Advocate General’s office, and ensuring effective distribution of scholarships.
Minister Barinder Kumar noted that while attending government schools was once seen as a compulsion for the underprivileged, the education landscape in Punjab is undergoing a major transformation. Now, people are voluntarily choosing government schools. The state has also established ‘Schools of Eminence’ to provide top-tier education and is simultaneously working to strengthen public healthcare services.
Among those present at the event were District Education Officer (Elementary) Baljinder Kaur, PA Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Block President Satish Kumar Moonak, along with several local leaders, sarpanches, panches, and community members.
