Minister Hardeep Mundian : Fulfilling Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of delivering hassle-free and transparent citizen-centric services, the Water Supply and Sanitation Department is set to construct a modern Jal Bhawan in Mohali, where all departmental services will be available under one roof.
Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Hardeep Mundian shared the update after a review meeting with officials on the project, stating that the building would be completed within two years. During the meeting, the Chief Architect of the Architecture Department also presented the design plans for Jal Bhawan.
Minister Hardeep Mundian noted that the department currently lacks a dedicated building in Mohali or Chandigarh to house all its staff in one place. The new state-of-the-art Jal Bhawan will bring all offices together, improving operational efficiency and ensuring that citizens can access every service at a single location.
Highlighting its features, the Minister said the facility will include a large auditorium, multiple conference halls, a spacious meeting hall, a crèche, and a rest house to ensure smooth departmental functioning. He instructed officials to maintain top quality during construction and ensure high-class amenities.
The Architecture Department informed that the building will comply with Griha/ECBC norms to reduce future operational costs. Principal Secretary Neel Kanth Avhad added that ₹10 crore has been allocated for the 2025–26 financial year, and if the PWD spends the amount by November–December, the Finance Department will be approached for additional funds.
