Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment, under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, to deliver clean, transparent, and accountable services, Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today presented appointment letters to 504 newly appointed Patwaris.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony held at the Municipal Bhawan, Minister Hardeep said these recruits, after successfully completing their mandatory 18-month training, are now ready to serve as regular Patwaris in the field. He informed that following the 2023 recruitment process, the Chief Minister had allotted districts to candidates strictly on the basis of merit. As per rules, each recruit underwent one year of training at Patwar Schools followed by six months of field training.
To support the one-year training, 10 temporary Patwar Schools were set up, staffed by experienced and retired PCS officers, District Revenue Officers, Tehsildars, Patwaris, and Kanungos serving in various teaching and administrative capacities. The training curriculum covered revenue computation, land record management, surveying, record preparation, elections, settlement operations, agriculture, and computer applications. Specialised modules focused on election work, including voter list preparation, and agriculture, covering details of Kharif and Rabi crops, pesticides, fertilizers, and seeds. Recruits also received practical training on the ILMS (Integrated Land Management System) for Jamabandi data entry, mutation recording, Roznamacha, Fard Badar, and related processes.
Minister Hardeep highlighted that the state has procured DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) equipment to train all Patwaris in land demarcation and is also conducting training for revenue surveys using the Digital Crop Survey system. He added that the departmental examination for eligible candidates was held from May 26 to June 3, 2025, and all 504 who passed are now joining their field postings.
Minister Hardeep Mundian said these appointments aim to strengthen citizen-centric governance, with the hope that the young recruits will play a key role in building a corruption-free society. He also announced that more Patwari posts will soon be filled to provide opportunities for Punjab’s youth. Emphasizing zero tolerance for graft, he warned that corruption by government employees will not be tolerated in any circumstance.
Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner Revenue Sh. Anurag Verma stated that the induction of new Patwaris will help streamline the Revenue Department’s functioning, ensuring citizens receive quick and hassle-free services. He welcomed the new recruits and expressed confidence that their deployment will boost the effective implementation of reforms like Easy Jamabandi and Easy Registry at the grassroots level.
