In a pioneering initiative, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains held an interactive session titled “Dialogue with Teachers” at Virasat-e-Khalsa, Sri Anandpur Sahib, aiming to gather direct insights from teachers to further raise the standard of government school education in the state.
The event brought together National and State Award-winning educators, along with teachers trained in Singapore, Finland, and IIM Ahmedabad. Minister Bains attentively listened to their suggestions on improving both education quality and school infrastructure. MLA Advocate Dinesh Chadha was also present.
Commending the educators for Punjab’s top performance in the national education survey, Mr. Bains emphasized that the initiative’s goal is to engage award-winning and globally trained educators, school leaders, BPEOs, program nodal officers, and campus managers to evaluate ongoing reforms and identify areas for further enhancement.
He highlighted recent initiatives such as School of Eminence, School of Happiness, and School of Brilliance, launched under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership to transform government school education and better shape students’ futures.
Minister Bains noted that the state is offering leadership and management training to school principals, headmasters, and teachers through prestigious institutions in Singapore, Finland, and IIM Ahmedabad—marking the first time such international exposure is being provided under the AAP-led government.
Proudly, he shared success stories such as government school students witnessing the Chandrayaan-3 launch, excelling in JEE Mains and Advanced, and gaining access to modern sports facilities like AstroTurf grounds, swimming pools, and shooting ranges. He also cited the development of world-class infrastructure under the School of Eminence project, which now rivals private institutions.
The minister added that boundary walls, new labs, libraries, campus managers, and security personnel have been implemented based on teachers’ input. He described Dialogue with Teachers as a powerful new platform that prioritizes listening to educators rather than one-sided directives. Similar sessions in Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Fazilka have already yielded positive outcomes.
Bains noted that the reforms are visibly transforming the landscape of every government school in Punjab. Congratulating teachers and school administrators, he urged them to maintain their momentum and commitment.
Expressing confidence in the ongoing transformation, he stated that the government’s education reforms—driven by dedicated teachers—are delivering excellent results and positioning Punjab as a national model. He emphasized that no previous government had taken such significant, dedicated steps toward improving education.
Educators present at the event, including internationally trained teachers and award winners, expressed gratitude for being given a voice in shaping policy. MLA Dinesh Chadha also praised the state’s educational revolution, noting its impact on public schools. Teachers thanked the minister for key improvements such as free uniforms, smart classrooms, Wi-Fi, digital tools, timely textbooks, and improved campus infrastructure.
They assured the minister that government school students would continue to excel in upcoming competitive exams. Senior officials from the Education Department were also in attendance at the event.
