Minister Harjot Singh : In a firm move to uphold educational integrity, the Punjab School Education Department has suspended two teachers assigned as a Superintendent and an Invigilator at Government Model Senior Secondary School (Boys), Gurdaspur (Examination Centre-241251) for engaging in examination malpractices during the ongoing Class 10 board exams.
This action was taken following the directives of Punjab’s School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.
Minister Harjot Singh stated that the Punjab School Education Board’s Flying Squad teams detected a major violation of examination protocols at the school. During the Class 10 English exam on March 17, Invigilator Kirandeep Kaur, a Hindi Mistress, was caught using WhatsApp on her mobile phone to seek answers and assist students. Examination Centre Superintendent Ashwani Kumar, a Lecturer, allowed the breach by negligently permitting mobile phones inside the examination hall.
“Our government is dedicated to ensuring high-quality education and maintaining the sanctity of the examination system,” said Education Minister Harjot Singh , emphasizing that any such misconduct undermines fair assessments and will not be tolerated.
As a result, both officials have been suspended immediately and are required to report to the District Education Officer, Gurdaspur, where his office will serve as their headquarters during the suspension period.
The Minister further instructed education officials to enhance vigilance by deploying additional special teams and increasing the number of flying squads to eliminate malpractices and conduct exams with complete transparency.
“The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to fostering an education system where success is determined purely by merit,” Bains asserted, warning that any deviation from this principle will invite strict punitive action.
