Minister Kuldeep Singh : To simplify the verification process for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Punjabis, the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, launched the E-Sanad portal across the state in September 2024. This portal allows NRI Punjabis to apply for document countersigning from the comfort of their homes. Since January 1, 2025, a total of 6,481 applications have been received through this platform.
Punjab’s Minister for Administrative Reforms and NRI Affairs,Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, stated that 200 NRI applications are forwarded daily to the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The portal streamlines tracking and status updates, significantly saving NRIs’ valuable time.
Minister Kuldeep Singh further added that the E-Sanad portal facilitates the issuance of various documents, including birth certificates, unavailability of birth certificates, late birth entries, police clearance certificates, medical certificates, educational qualifications, driving licenses, death certificates, marriage/divorce decrees, adoption deeds, affidavits, fingerprints, and other essential documents.
