The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is consistently striving to improve the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. In a move to further this commitment, Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat has instructed officials to expedite the construction of war memorials across the state.
Chairing a review meeting with senior officials of the Defence Services Welfare Department at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, Bhagat reiterated the state government’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for ex-servicemen and their dependents. He stressed the importance of efficient implementation of all welfare schemes meant for their benefit.
During the meeting, Department Director Brig. Bhupinder Singh Dhillon (Retd.) presented a detailed report highlighting the department’s initiatives over the past three months, including financial support programs, educational benefits, medical assistance, and infrastructure projects for veterans.
Bhagat urged officials to treat ex-servicemen-related issues as top priority and called for robust awareness drives to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are informed and can take full advantage of government schemes.
He also instructed that the renovation and upkeep of Sainik Rest Houses across Punjab be completed without delay. Assuring that adequate funding would be made available for development projects, the Minister warned that any negligence by officials would not be tolerated.
