Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat has instructed officials to implement concrete measures to strengthen the Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation (PESCO), aiming to enhance services for ex-servicemen and their families.
While presiding over a review meeting at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, the Minister evaluated PESCO’s functioning, financial condition, and employee welfare initiatives. A significant focus of the meeting was on boosting employment avenues for ex-servicemen through the Corporation.
PESCO Managing Director Major General Harmandeep Singh (Retd) and General Manager (Security) SP Singh briefed the Minister on current programs and presented a three-month performance report. Discussions covered important issues such as the salary structure of security personnel, proposals to raise their wages under the special category, and improvements in the recruitment process for ex-servicemen.
Minister Mohinder Bhagat reiterated the Punjab Government’s dedication to strengthening PESCO’s contribution to the welfare of ex-servicemen. He also assured that steps would be taken to resolve financial challenges and consider raising the age limit for employing ex-servicemen.
To get a firsthand understanding of operations, the Minister expressed plans to visit PESCO sites soon. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to uphold the dignity and welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.
