Minister Rao Narbir emphasized that metro construction should not disrupt citizens’ daily lives.

Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, instructed GMDA officials to ensure that the proposed metro expansion from Millennium City Center to the Railway Station, Sector-22, and Cyber City in Gurugram causes minimal disruption to the public and existing services.

During an inspection of the proposed metro expansion route with officers from Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) and GMDA,Minister Rao Narbir Singh emphasized the importance of preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) with a focus on public convenience.

After reviewing the route, the Minister urged officers to accelerate the construction while prioritizing public convenience. He stressed the need for a well-planned traffic diversion strategy to ensure smooth traffic flow during construction.

Minister Rao Narbir Singh also directed that essential services such as drainage, electricity, water supply, and sewage should remain unaffected during the project. Any issues should be addressed before the start of metro construction work.

Furthermore, he instructed GMDA officers to ensure that any flyover or underpass construction is done in parallel with the metro expansion project. He requested that the proposed route alignment be finalized within a month and that Gurugram’s drainage system remains intact.

In a related update, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini held a meeting with officials about the project. It was reported that the Detailed Project Report for the metro expansion from Millennium City Center to Cyber City has been approved by both the state and central governments. The project’s foundation stone will be laid by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi on February 16, 2024, in Rewari, with construction set to begin on May 1, 2025.

The metro expansion will cover 28.50 km with 27 stations, including 8 model stations, and one depot. The project will cost Rs. 896.19 crore from the central government and Rs. 4,556.53 crore from the Haryana government. A medium metro will be established under this project and it will operate on standard gauge, besides this, the metro will be based on Communication Based Train Control Signal (CBTC ) and the maximum speed will be 80 km per hour. Initially there will be three coaches in the metro connectivity expandable to six in the future. To ensure the project is completed efficiently, an executive committee and a coordination committee have been formed to resolve any issues that arise during implementation of the project.

Chief Engineer, GMDA, Sh. Rajesh Bansal, XEN, Sh. Vikas Malik and GMRL officers also remained present.
