Minister Tarunpreet Singh : Punjab is actively engaged in the conservation and restoration of historical monuments and tourist sites across the state.
Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, responding to a query in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, stated that the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs is dedicated to preserving and revitalizing historically significant sites in various districts. He added that if Bathinda district authorities submit a proposal to develop Bathinda lakes as a food hub or tourism destination, the Punjab government will prioritize the initiative.
Addressing a query from MLA Jagroop Singh Gill, Sond emphasized that if the Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda submits a detailed plan for the beautification and development of Bathinda lakes, the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department will take swift action.
Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan also shared his views, describing Punjab as one of the world’s most picturesque regions, with mountains, rivers, lakes, and diverse weather conditions. He highlighted the state’s historical forts and religious landmarks, underscoring Punjab’s rich cultural and natural heritage. He suggested formulating a comprehensive strategy to further promote tourism.
In response, Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond reaffirmed Punjab’s distinct appeal as a tourist destination and noted that the government is already working on several tourism projects. He assured that upcoming initiatives would further enhance the state’s tourism sector.
