Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Employment, Minister Tetwal,has said that an orientation is not just a formal beginning of education, but a defining moment when students take their first step towards contributing to society and the nation through their knowledge and skills. He emphasised that the true purpose of education lies not merely in securing a degree or a job, but in shaping character, fostering responsibility and contributing to nation-building. Shri Tetwal was addressing students at the Orientation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) 2025 Batch at the MANIT campus.
Minister Tetwal said that India is advancing rapidly in fields such as Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Cyber-Security. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, ‘Digital India’ and ‘Startup India’ are empowering youth to compete on the global stage. He expressed confidence that the students of the IIIT-2025 batch will make their mark in this changing era and bring pride to both Madhya Pradesh and the nation.
The Minister said that the institute should nurture talented leaders like Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sophia Qureshi, who led ‘Operation Sindoor’, and have set exemplary standards of service to the nation. Citing the example of Shubhanshu Shukla, who achieved remarkable success in the field of space exploration, he encouraged students to achieve similar global recognition for their achievements.
Highlighting Madhya Pradesh’s rich educational heritage, Shri Tetwal said the state has a historic tradition of learning. Referring to Ujjain, he said that since the era of ‘Sandipani Ashram’, great learners such as Lord Krishna have emerged, making unique contributions in fields like engineering, architecture, history and astrology. Ujjain, he added, has been a major center of education for centuries. He welcomed students who had come from different states of India to the city of lakes, Bhopal.
Quoting the Bhagavad Gita, Minister Tetwal said, ‘Excellence in action is yoga’, and this pursuit of excellence is what makes life meaningful. He inspired students to adopt discipline, dedication and a sense of responsibility as the true essence of education. Students interacted with the Minister and asked several questions, which he answered in a very simple and clear manner. He also invited students to visit the Global Skill Park in Bhopal. Professors of the institute presented him with a memento.
Concluding his address, Shri Tetwal extended best wishes to the students and urged them to move forward with sincerity and commitment as the builders of future India.
In the IIIT-2025 batch, 660 students have enrolled in B.Tech, 48 in M.Tech, 71 in MCA and 9 in Ph.D. Courses.
