Ministers Harjot Singh : To mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, the Punjab government has planned to organize four major religious yatras and multiple grand events.
During a meeting held at Virasat-e-Khalsa, Punjab Cabinet Ministers Harjot Singh Bains, Harbhajan Singh ETO, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, and Tourism Advisor Deepak Bali shared details of the ceremonial outline with district officials and instructed them to ensure proper arrangements for devotees’ convenience. Tourism Secretary Dr. Abhinav Tarikha was also present.
Minister Harjot Singh Bains informed the media that starting November 19, a four-day yatra will begin from Srinagar and proceed to Sri Anandpur Sahib, eventually heading to Delhi. Other yatras will originate from Gurdaspur, Majha, Doaba, Malwa, Bathinda, and Faridkot, covering most districts and major towns. These yatras will feature Mashal-e-Shahadat, a mobile library on Guru Teg Bahadur Ji’s life, Gatka performances, Panj Pyare, Panj Nishanchi, Kirtani Jathas, Kashmiri Pandits, and other religious groups.
On November 23, the Sri Akhand Path Sahib will begin at Virasat-e-Khalsa, attended by dignitaries including CM Bhagwant Mann. A digital exhibition showcasing Guru Sahib’s martyrdom will be inaugurated. A Sarv Dharam Sammelan (interfaith meet) will also be held with discussions led by Sikh scholars and historians.
A guided tour will follow, covering Bhai Jaita Ji Memorial and Panj Piara Park, where Katha and Kirtan Darbars will be held. On November 24, a special Vidhan Sabha session may be convened at Sri Anandpur Sahib, along with a heritage walk of religious and historical places. Events like Mohalla Khalsa exhibitions, Kavi Darbars, Dhadi, and Kavishri performances will also take place. That evening, a Light & Sound and Drone Show will be held at Panj Piara Park.
On November 25, the Bhog ceremony of the Akhand Path Sahib will be held with CM Bhagwant Mann in attendance. He will also kick off a statewide plantation drive with a target of planting 3.5 lakh saplings. The Health Department will organize a blood donation camp and an organ donation pledge drive. A Sarbat Da Bhala Iktatrata will be held, where eminent personalities and faith leaders from India and abroad will join.
Later that evening, government buildings across Punjab will be illuminated as part of the Mashal-e-Shahadat tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. The public will also be encouraged to participate in this tribute.
The Cabinet has already conducted high-level planning meetings and will hold additional ones at locations associated with Guru Sahib’s life. To accommodate devotees at Sri Anandpur Sahib, a tent city will be set up, and e-rickshaws will be arranged for travel to key religious sites.
Officials including SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana and other senior administrative leaders also attended the planning session.
