Amritsar’s Ravi River embankments, damaged due to last year’s floods, were recently inspected by MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal. The legislator reviewed the current condition of the dams and instructed authorities to begin immediate repair and strengthening work.
Inspection of Flood-Damaged Embankments
MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal visited the ravaged embankments in the border area of Ramdas, along with local officials. He carefully assessed the damaged sites and emphasized that these embankments must be reinforced to prevent future flood-related losses to nearby villages. He noted that around 23 embankments were breached during the previous flood, causing significant damage to farmland and homes in the region.

Plans for Immediate Repairs
During the inspection, MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal stated that the concerned department will prepare a detailed report on the current condition of all damaged and weakened embankments. The proposal will then be submitted to the state government to secure approval for repair and reinforcement work. Once approved, the repair work on all embankments is expected to be completed within three to four months.

MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal warned officials against any negligence in the repair work, stating clearly that any future damage caused due to carelessness will be the responsibility of the concerned authorities. He assured the public that the government is fully committed to ensuring the safety of people in the border areas and will take all necessary steps to prevent flood-related damage in the future.
Ensuring Stronger Embankments for the Future
The inspection conducted by Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal highlighted the urgent need to strengthen embankments along the Ravi River to protect villages from floods. He emphasized that safeguarding lives and property remains the government’s top priority.
