MNS Opposes Fawad Khan’s Return to Bollywood in ‘Abir Gulaal’ Over Political Concerns

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has raised concerns and is against the film’s release in Maharashtra due to the involvement of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

Following the teaser’s release, MNS spokesperson Ameya Khopkar made it clear that the party would not allow the film to release in Maharashtra. He stated that their opposition was based on the presence of Fawad Khan, a Pakistani actor, in the movie. According to Khopkar, the MNS is firm in their stance, stating that they only learned about the film’s release when it was announced. He made it clear that they will not allow the film to be released in Maharashtra due to the presence of a Pakistani actor.
This opposition is not surprising, as MNS has previously spoken out against Pakistani actors working in Bollywood. The political climate between India and Pakistan has made the involvement of Pakistani artists in Indian films a sensitive issue.
On top of everything, another political figure, Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Nirupam, added his opinion, stating that Indian audiences don’t really support Pakistani actors in Bollywood and that the government should decide whether Pakistani films and artists should be allowed in India at all.
Nirupam stated that when films are released from Pakistan, they generally do not attract much interest from Indian audiences. He noted that while some may watch a film for a brief moment, Pakistani films and artists have not gained widespread popularity in India. He further mentioned that Pakistani stars have not found significant success in India and recommended that Pakistan focus on developing its own film industry rather than attempting to make a name in India.
He also said that it should be up to the government to decide whether Pakistani films and artists should be allowed in India. According to Nirupam, the government should decide whether Pakistani films should be allowed to come to India or not.
