Anil Kumble is the best player of Indian team in international cricket. Anil Kumble, who made his international debut in the 1990 Test against England, took 953 wickets in 401 matches for India at an average of 30.06.
The Bengaluru-born cricketer ended his career with 619 Test wickets in 132 matches at an average of 29.65. He had 35 five-wicket hauls and eight 10-wicket hauls. Between 1990 and 2007, Anil Kumble played 269 One Day International (ODI) matches, taking 334 wickets at an average of 30.83.
Among active players, Ravichandran Ashwin has taken the most wickets in Indian formats. Ashwin has taken 744 wickets in 281 matches so far, placing him second on the list. Ashwin, India’s second highest wicket-taker in Tests, has 516 scalps in 100 Tests so far, followed by 156 wickets in ODIs and 72 wickets in T20Is.
Former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is third on India’s list of wickets across all formats. The top-class off-spinner took 707 wickets in 365 matches at an average of 32.59.
Harbhajan made his Test debut in 1998 against Australia and ended his career with 417 wickets in 103 matches in the longest format.
Harbhajan, popularly known as ‘Turbantar’, also played 234 ODIs and took 265 wickets at an average of 33.47.
Former fast bowler Kapil Dev and fast bowler Zaheer Khan have been named among India’s top five catchers.

1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev took 687 wickets in 356 matches for India. Of these 687 wickets, 434 were in the longest format and 253 were taken in ODI cricket.
In contrast, 2011 World Cup winner Zaheer Khan took 597 wickets in 303 matches.
