MP NEWS : On Wednesday, March 5, a meeting was held between the 16th Central Finance Commission and representatives of rural local bodies, urban local bodies, and various political parties. The meeting, chaired by Finance Commission Chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya, included commission members who engaged in discussions with attendees. Representatives from rural and urban bodies and political parties shared their views and recommendations with the commission.
As representatives of urban local bodies, four mayors participated in the meeting, including Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, Satna Mayor Yogesh Tamrakar, Khandwa Mayor Amrita Yadav, and Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai. Additionally, 11 municipal council and municipal committee presidents were also present.
During the discussions, it was highlighted that Madhya Pradesh has the highest tribal population in the country, and it was requested that urban local body grants be allocated accordingly. A proposal was also put forward for a separate grant to support the integration of technology in urbanization efforts to enhance public services.
