National Archives of India : A special exhibition will be inaugurated at the National Gandhi Museum in Rajghat on Martyrs’ Day.

On Martyrs’ Day, the National Archives of India (NAI) and the National Gandhi Museum (NGM), in collaboration with the National Film Archives of India and Prasar Bharati Archives, will unveil a special exhibition titled “Journey of the Mahatma: Through His Own Documents.” The exhibition will be inaugurated by Ms. Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee, the granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi and Chairman of the National Gandhi Museum, on January 30, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Exhibition Hall of the National Gandhi Museum in Rajghat, New Delhi.

This carefully curated exhibition chronicles Mahatma Gandhi’s transformative journey, offering visitors an exclusive chance to explore his life and legacy. Through a mix of rare photographs, official documents, audio recordings, video clips, and personal letters, the exhibition vividly portrays Gandhi’s path from his early years in Porbandar to his crucial role in India’s fight for independence.

The exhibition includes 30 panels that showcase key moments in Gandhi’s life, such as his education in England, his time in South Africa, and his leadership during major events like the Champaran Satyagraha, Dandi March, and Quit India Movement. It also highlights his work for social justice, communal harmony, and the abolition of untouchability, along with his efforts to promote peace during the Partition and his lasting impact on the nation after independence.

This exhibition brings together a wealth of archival material that reflects Gandhi’s principles of nonviolence, justice, and peace. The exhibition will be open for public viewing for a limited time, inviting citizens, students, historians, and Gandhi admirers to gain a deeper understanding of his life and enduring legacy.
