Nayab Singh Saini: Haryana Celebrates Independence Day with great fervour, CM hoists Tricolour at Kurukshetra

 Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that over the past 10 years, Haryana has witnessed transformations in harmony, goodwill, equal development, social cohesion, and tolerance, making every individual’s life simpler, easier, and safer. In these 10 years, the present state government has freed the people from biased systems, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the present state government has liberated people from fear, corruption, nepotism, regionalism causing inequality in development, and the issues of obtaining government jobs. Hurdles from accessing government services and schemes have also been removed. Villages have been made free from lal dora and women have been given security, he said.

The Chief Minister was addressing the state-level programme on 78th Independence Day held in Kurukshetra district on Thursday. On this occasion, he hoisted the flag and extended Independence Day greetings to the people, and paid tribute to the martyrs who contributed and sacrificed for the country’s freedom.  The Chief Minister also laid a wreath at the war memorial. During the programme, he inspected the parade units, which performed an impressive march-past, and saluted the National Flag as they passed in front of the stage.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that this festival of freedom is a festival for every individual, a day of pride and glory for every Indian. Like every year, the whole country is immersed in patriotic fervor through the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. This day is to remember the great sacrifices of the freedom fighters. He paid heartfelt tribute to all the known and unknown martyrs who laid down their lives for freedom.

The Chief Minister emphasized that it is a matter of pride that the people of Haryana played a leading role in the freedom struggle. The revolution of 1857 began in Ambala Cantt. To inspire new generations, a Savtantrta Sangram Smarak is being constructed in Ambala Cantt at a cost of Rs. 538 crore, which is in the final stages. He noted that even after independence, Haryana’s brave soldiers have made numerous sacrifices in securing the country’s borders.

The Chief Minister stated that from July, the Haryana government has increased the pension for freedom fighters and their widows to Rs. 40,000 per month. The ex-gratia amount for families of martyrs has been raised to Rs. 50 lakh. 415 dependents of martyrs have been given government jobs. It has been decided to give 10 percent reservation for Agniveers in Haryana government direct recruitments.

The Prime Minister has freed citizens from colonial-era slavery laws

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that on July 1, 2024, Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi freed the citizens from three colonial-era slavery laws. These laws were created to strengthen and protect British rule. The new laws are starting to provide quicker justice and relieve people from the hassles of court proceedings. He said that the Prime Minister has taken several historic decisions for the nation’s benefit. By abrogating Article 370 and Section 35-A in Jammu and Kashmir, he has fulfilled the dream of an undivided India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Establishing a grand temple for Lord Ram in Ayodhya has strengthened the faith of millions of Indians. By endorsing the Prime Minister’s courageous decisions, the people of India have entrusted him with the responsibility of public service for the third time, a first since 1962, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.

Haryanvis have made significant contribution to the country’s progress

The Chief Minister shared that Haryana has made significant contributions to the country’s progress. Haryana is known as a land of opportunities, potential, prosperity, and innovations. The State ranks second in contributing to the central food grain stock. Every second car running on the country’s roads is manufactured in Haryana. Haryana produces 52 percent of the country’s tractors. Industrial activity is booming in Haryana, agricultural output is high, women are empowered, and social-economic and educational upliftment of Scheduled Castes and backward classes has been achieved, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.

The Chief Minister said that Haryana has ensured equal development in every sector with the ethos of ‘Haryana ek-Haryanvi ek’. He said that big projects have been set up across the state to achieve this goal. To connect every district with national highways, 20 new national highways have been declared, with work completed on 9. In the past 10 years, Rs. 40,000 crore have been invested in constructing 1350 km of national highways, shared  Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.

Haryana is the first state to provide health security to every citizen under the Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu scheme

The Chief Minister said that the Haryana government, inspired by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s slogan ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s vision of Antyodaya, has initiated a new era of social welfare and holistic development. Now, caste certificates, yellow ration cards, Chirayu cards, and various pensions are available online from the comfort of one’s home. He said Haryana is the first state to provide health security to every citizen under the Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu scheme.

The Chief Minister said that the ‘Happy Scheme’ run by the state government, provides every poor person with free travel up to 1000 kilometers annually on Haryana Roadways buses. The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme provides free pilgrimage travel for senior citizens.

We are committed to provide housing for the poor

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that to provide shelter to the poor, 49,975 houses have been built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and 14,202 more are being constructed. For house repairs, an amount of Rs. 80,000 is directly deposited into the beneficiaries’ accounts. Under the Mukhya Mantri Sehri Awas Yojna, allotment letters for 15,250 plots of 30-30 yards have been provided to poor families in cities.  Besides this, under the Mukhya Mantri Gramin Awas Yojna  50-50 yard plots in Mahagram and 100 yard plots in other villages are being allocated, said the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister said that assistance is provided to farmers at every step, from sowing crops to selling them in the market. He further shared that the Haryana government has recently taken new decisions for farmer welfare. The colonial-era Abiana has been abolished, and outstanding amounts of Rs. 133.55 crore have been waived. Additionally, a decision has been made to purchase all crops at MSP.

He said that due to lower rainfall this year, farmers had to rely on tube wells and other resources for Kharif crops, increasing their production costs. Therefore, a bonus of Rs. 2,000 per acre will be provided for all Kharif crops.

Over 6.71 lakh MSME established in 10 years

The Chief Minister said that the government has created an ecosystem for ease of doing business to accelerate industrial development in Haryana. He said that today, Haryana has become the first choice for investors both domestically and internationally. In the past 10 years, over 6 lakh 71 thousand 524 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) have been established in the state, providing employment to 34 lakh people.

Besides this, the present state government has recently decided to increase the commission for Arthiyas to Rs. 55 per quintal for rice. We have also decided to compensate arthiyas for losses incurred during the previous Rabi season due to wheat shortages with Rs. 12 crore, he said.

Haryana players won 4 medals at the Paris Olympics

Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that the state youth have showcased their talent abroad. Recently, Haryana players won 4 out of the 6 medals India received at the Paris Olympics, making us proud. The bronze medal-winning hockey team included 3 players from Haryana. We are developing ultra-modern sports infrastructure to provide players with training facilities that meet global standards, shared the Chief Minister.

36,000 new job vacancies soon

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini stated that the present state government has provided government jobs to 1.44 lakh youths based on merit. We will soon fill 36,000 more vacancies.  Besides this, the government  has secured jobs for 1.20 lakh employees working under outsourcing services and the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam.

Empowering women

The Chief Minister said that the Haryana government is committed to the economic and educational development of women and providing them with a safe environment.  He said that to provide higher education to daughters, a college has been established within a 20-kilometer radius.  Furthermore, 76 new colleges have been opened in the state, including 32 women’s colleges. Free education up to postgraduate level is provided to girls. 5,105 daughters pursuing higher education abroad have been given loans totaling Rs. 20.28 crore for education, with the Haryana government providing a 5 percent interest subsidy, said Sh Nayab Singh Saini.

He said that to enhance livelihood opportunities for women, one-third of ration depots have been allocated to women, and operations of Atal Kisan Majdoor Canteens and Vita sales centers have been handed over to women. 66,465 self-help groups for women have been formed, and the revolving fund amount has been increased from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 recently.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini stated that the state has set a goal to make 2 lakh women ‘Lakhpati Didis’ through various training programs. The first phase aims to make 62,0000 women ‘Lakhpati Didis’.  He said that Prime Minister, Sh.  Narendra Modi has passed the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill to increase women’s participation in democracy by providing 33 percent reservation in legislative bodies. Similarly, Haryana has provided 50 percent representation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions.

Focus on improving infrastructure and decentralizing powers

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that under the ‘Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon’ yojana, 24-hour electricity and internet access through optical fiber cables are being provided in 6,000 villages.

Furthermore, to enhance the role of Panchayati Raj institutions in village development, the state government has granted them various financial and administrative powers. The limit for works carried out by Panchayati Raj institutions without tender has been increased to Rs. 21 lakh.

The Chief Minister said that today is a day for self-reflection. On this sacred occasion of independence, we should pledge to uphold the spirit of patriotism, courage, and duty demonstrated by the immortal martyrs and freedom fighters.
