Disaster Management to be Strengthened and Upgraded – TVSN Prasad

Chandigarh, August 1:

The Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. TVSN Prasad today said that Rs. 2 crore 64 lakh 77 thousand 224 will be allocated for procuring advanced equipment to bolster the state’s disaster management infrastructure.

The Haryana Chief Secretary chaired a meeting of the State-Level Executive Committee on Disaster Management. He emphasized the need for a robust disaster management system, which includes incorporating the latest equipment to minimize loss of life and property during emergencies.  Sh. Prasad highlighted that solid and effective measures are being taken for disaster management in the state.

In addition to acquiring modern and advanced equipment, district-level Disaster Management Force Committees will be trained to handle emergencies proficiently. A State-Level Executive Committee of the Haryana State Disaster Response Force has been established for the purchase of various types of equipment during the fiscal year 2024-25. This committee will also review available disaster management equipment and train personnel involved in emergency response.

Furthermore, fire safety mock drills and audits will be conducted at the Haryana Civil Secretariat and the mini-secretariats of the districts to enhance preparedness.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Principal Secretary, Human Resources Department, Sh. Vijayendra Kumar, Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sh. S. Narayanan and several senior officers remained present in the meeting.
