BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal has confirmed that Nitish Kumar will continue as the Chief Minister of Bihar, following the recent Assembly election results. The NDA government’s swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 20, 2025, at Gandhi Maidan, Patna.
Preparations for the formation of the new government are already underway. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar chaired the final cabinet meeting of the outgoing NDA government on Monday and later met Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. The Cabinet passed a resolution authorizing Kumar to recommend the dissolution of the Assembly. Subsequently, he is expected to submit his resignation to the Governor on November 19, 2025, formalizing the transition to the new government.
BJP and NDA allies finalize leadership structure
BJP leaders have confirmed that Nitish Kumar will retain the Chief Minister’s post, while discussions continue regarding the Deputy Chief Minister positions and key portfolios. NDA allies—including JDU, LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM(S), and RLM—are coordinating to finalize the leadership structure. BJP General Secretary and Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde is in Patna overseeing the entire process, which includes legislature party meetings to formalize the coalition leadership and cabinet appointments.

Former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Tarakishore Prasad addressed the media, stating that the BJP legislature party meeting will take place on Tuesday, followed by the NDA legislature party meeting, where Nitish Kumar will be elected as the leader. Prasad added that there are no disputes regarding the Deputy CM post and that all decisions will be taken by the party leadership. He also confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony will be a grand affair.
Swearing-in Ceremony to be a grand event
The swearing-in ceremony at Gandhi Maidan will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Chief Ministers of other NDA-ruled states. In view of the preparations, the venue has been closed for the general public. This event marks the beginning of Nitish Kumar’s new term as Chief Minister and the continuation of the NDA government in Bihar.
With the NDA securing a decisive mandate in the polls, Nitish Kumar’s leadership is expected to bring stability and continuity to Bihar’s governance, while the alliance works on key development initiatives across the state.
