Zomato Rain Fee Without Rain? Zomato Glitch Leaves Bengaluru Customers Baffled
Bengaluru, June 12, 2025 — In what could only be described as a glitch that rained on no one, a Bengaluru man was charged a ‘rain surge fee’ on Zomato — despite completely dry weather in the city.

The man, posting under the handle @prakzrai on X (formerly Twitter), shared his frustration after seeing the rain surcharge slapped onto his food order. The kicker? “It’s not even drizzling a little bit,” he wrote, adding that the fee had been showing for the last four hours.
Poking fun at the situation, he quipped: “Next there will be a traffic surge at 1 AM… LOL.”
The post went viral, drawing thousands of views and plenty of laughs. Some users called it “peak Bengaluru moment,” while others tagged Zomato, asking for an explanation.
Zomato was quick to respond:
“Hi Prakhyath, we’d like to get this checked. Please share your contact/order details via DM so we can look into this,” their support handle replied.
This wasn’t a one-off either. In a separate post, another Bengaluru user noted that although he was being charged ₹0 for delivery thanks to Zomato Gold, he still saw a ‘rain surge fee’, along with multiple other micro-charges, including GST on platform fees and packaging.
The situation sparked debate online about automated pricing, app glitches, and the growing list of small add-on charges that often go unnoticed — unless they show up during sunshine.
While Zomato seems to be addressing the issue, users aren’t letting go of the humor anytime soon. After all, what’s more Bangalore than paying a rain fee during summer?
