Baisakhi On Punjab and Haryana

On Saturday, gurdwaras throughout Punjab and Haryana hosted prayers in honor of the Baisakhi holiday.

Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, greeted people on the occasions of Baisakhi and the Khalsa Panth’s “Sajna Divas.”

Nayab Saini, the chief minister of Haryana, also wished everyone a happy Baisakhi.

Worshippers flocked to the gurdwaras, offering prayers at Sri Harmandir Sahib, often referred to as the Golden Temple, in Amritsar, Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib, Damdama Sahib in Bathinda, and Nada Sahib in Panchkula, Haryana.

The Baisakhi festival commemorates the day that Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, established the “Khalsa Panth,” or Sikh order.

In the holy city of Sri Anandpur Sahib, on this auspicious day in 1699, Guru Gobind Singh established the “Order of Khalsa” by baptizing “Panj Pyare,” or cherished ones, from various castes.

Harvest season also begins with Baisakhi.
