Under the leadership of CM Bhajanlal Lal Sharma, the Medical Department is working with commitment to achieve the set target of making Rajasthan TB free under TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. So far, more than 74 lakh (44%) hyper-sensitive population has been screened door-to-door through Active Tuberculosis Search Campaign in the State since 25th June, 2025. The campaign aims to reach out to 1.67 crore vulnerable persons. So far 2,35,054 persons have been found symptomatic of TB in screening, who have been referred to health institutions for confirmation.
As per the directions of CM Bhajanlal Lal Sharma, an effective strategy is being worked out in the direction of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s resolve of TB Mukt Bharat. The screening campaign, which will continue till 21st July 2025, aims to identify hidden TB cases early and provide timely treatment free of cost. He informed that under the campaign, door-to-door screening of PLHIV, diabetics, persons above 60 years of age, malnourished persons, smokers / alcoholics, migrant workers, tribal communities, former TB patients and people living in mining and construction sites, jails and urban slums is being done.
House-to-house survey
Responsibilities have been assigned to officials at the state and district level to ensure screening of the hyper-sensitive population. The progress of the campaign is also being reviewed daily. This campaign of door-to-door TB screening in Rajasthan is a decisive step towards the national TB elimination goal. The hard work of the district teams and the participation of the general public is making it possible to identify the maximum number of patients in time, thereby breaking the chain of infection.
Rajasthan ranks third in TB-free gram panchayats
Due to the continuous supervision of the Chief Minister, 3,350 Gram Panchayats have been declared TB-free in 2024 under the TB Mukt Gram Panchayat Abhiyan in the state, which has increased awareness and participation at the community level. Rajasthan has been ranked third in the country in this campaign. So far, 35,117 Nikshay Mitras have been registered under the campaign, who are providing nutrition, mental support and necessary facilities to TB patients.
Technological innovations have made it easier to
Real-time monitoring of identification, treatment, and payment of TB patients is being ensured through the NIKSHAY portal. Taking an accurate and rapid step towards eradicating TB with technology, the TB Patient Search Campaign in the State is being surveyed through ASHA Digital Health App, and its real time monitoring is being ensured through Dashboard. The State has made remarkable progress towards accurate and early diagnosis by prioritising NAT-based testing in all possible cases. The TB control efforts have been strengthened with the participation of NGOs, CSR partners and private practitioners under a participatory model. Through inter-departmental coordination at the district level, a well-structured and comprehensive strategy is being made in collaboration with departments like Police, Women and Child Development, Education, Labour Department. The campaign is being conducted with focus on vulnerable groups, micro planning, 100 per cent data entry and reporting.
Increased capacity from resources –
As per the directions of the Medical and Health Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Khinwsar, efforts have been made to increase the capacity of Nat Machine (629) Microscopy, X-Ray Machine, Lab Technician etc. at district and block level. A total of 1,71,415 TB patients were notified by the Medical Department in the State in 2024, which is 101 per cent of the target set. By June 2025, 89,132 TB patients have been notified, which is 110 per cent of the target. The NAT technology is capable of early and accurate detection of TB, which allows the patient to get timely treatment and also prevents the spread of infection.
