Akshay Kumar’s Team Sues Paresh Rawal Over Hera Pheri 3 Exit
Hera Pheri 3 Updates — The much-anticipated third installment of the iconic Bollywood comedy franchise Hera Pheri is currently entangled in legal and contractual complications. Following the abrupt exit of veteran actor Paresh Rawal, producer Firoz Nadiadwala has issued formal legal notices to several individuals connected with the franchise, including actors and creatives, asserting his ownership over the intellectual property of the film series.

Hera Pheri 3 Paresh Rawal Exits, Refunds Signing Amount
According to reports, Paresh Rawal exited the project citing a lack of clarity regarding the script and production schedule. In a professional gesture, Rawal returned the ₹11 lakh signing amount along with 15% interest. He also served a termination notice to the producers, which was duly accepted.
However, his departure did not go unnoticed. Cape of Good Films, the production house owned by actor Akshay Kumar, reportedly filed a ₹25 crore lawsuit against Rawal, alleging breach of contract and unprofessional conduct that could delay production and cause financial losses.
This marks the first legal action Akshay Kumar has initiated in his 35-year-long career in the industry.
Firoz Nadiadwala Asserts IP Rights
In a significant development, Firoz Nadiad wala, who produced the original Hera Pheri (2000) and Phir Hera Pheri (2006), issued formal notices asserting his exclusive rights to the franchise’s characters and title.
Legal notices were served to:
-
Akshay Kumar, instructing him to refrain from promotional activity without official approval.
-
Suniel Shetty, who has long been associated with the franchise.
-
Priyadarshan, director of the original film, warning him against involvement without consent.
Nadiadwala emphasized that any continuation of the franchise without his involvement would constitute an infringement of intellectual property rights.
Hera Pheri 3 Production in Limbo
The situation has left the future of Hera Pheri 3 uncertain. While initial reports suggested progress on the film under a new production house, the legal challenges may delay or even derail the project unless a resolution is reached.
In a related update, it has been reported that Nadiadwala has resolved past financial disputes with Eros International, potentially clearing the path for him to independently move ahead with production. However, no official confirmation on casting or timelines has been provided as of yet.
