On June 26, PSPCL met the highest power demand ever, which was 3563 LUS: Harbhajan Singh ETO

According to Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, the province fulfilled its all-time high power demand on June 26—3563 LUs in a single day—in contrast to September 09, 2023, when 3427 LUs were met.

The Power Minister disclosed this information in a press release released here, stating that Punjab had reached its greatest peak demand of 15933 MW on June 19, surpassing the previous peak demand of 15325 MW on June 23, 2023.

The electricity minister stated that Punjab has successfully fulfilled 28% more power demand in June 2024 compared to the same period in the previous year (7464 MUs until June 26th, 2024 versus 5853 MUs until June 26th, 2023). The power demand has been consistently high throughout this summer season. Additionally, he mentioned that PSPCL supplied 7231 MUs in May 2024—a 37% increase over the 5270 MUs supplied in May 2023.

He went on to say that the Punjab government, under by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, had supplied the biggest amount of AP to the state’s agricultural users while meeting the highest energy demand ever recorded without forcing any power outages on residential, commercial, or industrial customers.
