Important Amendments to Panchayati Raj Act
The cabinet also approved amendments to the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994. These changes impact the reservation system for the posts of presidents and vice-presidents in Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis, and Zila Parishads.
Harpal Singh Cheema stated that the reservation roster will now be adjusted if there is a jurisdictional change of 10 percent or more.
