In a major announcement aimed at empowering women in Punjab, CM Bhagwant Mann has declared that all women aged 18 and above in the state will receive ₹1100 every month as financial assistance starting from 2026.

Monthly Financial Support for Women in Punjab

Speaking in an interview with a private news channel, CM Bhagwant Mann said that this initiative will be included in the 2026 Punjab State Budget, and once approved, women will start receiving the promised amount. This scheme is part of the Aam Aadmi Party’s 2022 election manifesto, where the party had committed to supporting women with a fixed monthly income in addition to free bus travel within the state.

One Crore Women to Benefit

There are approximately 1 crore women aged 18 and above in Punjab who will benefit from this scheme. The initiative aims to reduce financial dependency and uplift women socially and economically. It is expected to particularly help women from low-income and middle-class households.

Government Committed to Women’s Empowerment

CM Bhagwant Mann emphasized that the AAP government is working seriously and sincerely to implement this promise. He reiterated that women’s economic empowerment is a top priority for the government and assured that this promise will not remain unfulfilled under any circumstances. “The time has come to deliver on the commitments we made to the women of Punjab. This is not just a scheme; it’s a step toward strengthening the foundation of gender equality and dignity,” said Bhagwant Mann.

Free Bus Travel Already in Effect

It’s worth noting that the Punjab government has already implemented free travel for women in government roadways buses, another poll promise fulfilled by the AAP government shortly after taking office in 2022.
