Recognition at Technology Sabha 2026
Director of Governance, Good Governance and Information Technology (GG&IT), Mr. Vishesh Sarangal, received the honour on behalf of the state government at the event organised by the Indian Express Group.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Good Governance and Information Technology Minister Mr. Aman Arora said that the Punjab Digital Excellence Award reflects the state government’s strong commitment to building a transparent, paperless, and accountable administrative framework under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Tech-Driven Governance as a Priority
Mr. Aman Arora emphasized that the state’s digital initiatives are focused on eliminating the ‘middleman culture’ and restoring public trust in governance. According to him, the Punjab Digital Excellence Award validates the government’s citizen-first approach that prioritizes accessibility and dignity in service delivery.
One of the flagship initiatives, “Bhagwant Mann Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar,” allows citizens to access over 430 government services by dialing helpline number 1076 from their homes. This initiative has significantly reduced the need for physical visits to government offices.

Digital Integration Driving Efficiency
Punjab’s digital reforms have resulted in remarkable improvements in administrative efficiency. With Patwaris and field staff successfully onboarded, over 12.5 lakh applications have been processed online. The pendency rate has dropped to just 0.33 percent—an achievement that underscores the impact of the reforms behind the Punjab Digital Excellence Award.
Additionally, platforms like M-Sewa and Connect Punjab offer unified mobile access and real-time grievance redressal mechanisms. Citizens can track their applications and provide feedback instantly, ensuring transparency and accountability at every level.
AI and ML to Shape the Next Phase
Looking ahead, Mr. Vishesh Sarangal outlined the roadmap for the next stage of Punjab’s digital transformation. The government plans to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to further streamline service delivery.
The objective is to create a 100 percent paperless and contactless ecosystem for essential services such as income, residence, and caste certificates. The momentum generated by the Punjab Digital Excellence Award is expected to accelerate these ambitious reforms.
A Milestone in Citizen-Centric Governance
The Punjab Digital Excellence Award stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and inclusive governance. By leveraging technology to simplify public services and eliminate bureaucratic delays, Punjab is positioning itself as a national leader in digital governance.
As the state advances toward a fully integrated digital ecosystem, the Punjab Digital Excellence Award marks not just an achievement, but a milestone in redefining citizen-centric governance in India.
