Reaffirming its dedication to the well-being of soldiers and their families, the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has disbursed ₹10.97 crore as ex gratia to the dependents of 21 soldiers, including 12 martyrs and 9 disabled soldiers, who made immense sacrifices for the nation. This was announced by Punjab Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat.

Minister Mohinder Bhagat emphasized Punjab’s significant role in national defense, with its youth making remarkable contributions to the armed forces. He highlighted the exceptional bravery of Punjabi soldiers in various battles, bringing great pride to the nation. The Punjab Government remains committed to supporting the families of these martyrs, ensuring they receive the necessary recognition and financial assistance.

He further noted that many soldiers retire at a young age and require resettlement opportunities. Additionally, war widows, disabled soldiers, and veterans from past wars also need support. To address this, the Department of Defence Services Welfare, Punjab, is actively facilitating their rehabilitation through training, re-employment, and self-employment initiatives.

Reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment, the minister assured that Punjab will continue to honor the sacrifices of its brave soldiers and extend all possible assistance to their families.
