Commitment to 100% MSP and Farmer Welfare
During a video conference with departmental controllers, Minister Kataruchak reiterated the state’s unwavering stance on supporting farmers. He emphasized that the crop procurement system is specifically designed to ensure that every single grain brought to the market is purchased at the 100% Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Infrastructure and Mandi Readiness
Despite various natural and climatic challenges, officials confirmed that all necessary arrangements are in place across the state’s grain markets. To bolster the crop procurement system, the Punjab Government has ensured:
Adequate Supply of Gunny Bags: Sufficient jute bags have been dispatched to all mandis to prevent any delays in packing.
24/7 Monitoring: Officials have been directed to remain present in the mandis around the clock to assist farmers.
Seamless Logistics: Coordination between different procurement agencies has been streamlined to manage the heavy inflow of crops.
Strict Directives for Officials
Minister Kataruchak issued a stern warning against any negligence or bureaucratic hurdles that might trouble the farmers. He highlighted that the efficiency of the crop procurement system depends on the ground-level execution. He instructed officials to prioritize farmer assistance and ensure that basic amenities like water, electricity, and shelter are readily available in all grain markets.
Focus on Transparency and Speedy Payments
One of the key pillars of this year’s crop procurement system is the integration of digital tracking for grain lifting and payments. The Punjab Government aims to clear payments within 48 to 72 hours of procurement, reducing the traditional waiting period for farmers.
By strengthening the crop procurement system, the Punjab Government intends to set a benchmark for agricultural management, ensuring that the state remains a leader in national food security while keeping the prosperity of its farmers at the forefront.
