Punjab Labour Department Conducts Statewide Raids to Eradicate Child Labour; 99 Children Rescued

In a major crackdown on child labour, the Punjab Labour Department conducted raids across the state, rescuing 99 child labourers. The raids were part of the Child Labour Eradication Week campaign launched by Labour Minister Anmol Gagan Maan, under the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The campaign, which runs from June 11 to June 21, 2024, aims to eliminate child labour from the state. District-level teams, comprising officials from various departments, conducted raids on industrial units and workplaces in Ludhiana and Bathinda.

In Ludhiana, 95 child labourers were rescued from various industrial units, including Neeraj Jain Hojri, Front Line, AS Narang Hosiery Complex, Leela Garment, and RP Sehgal Hosiery Complex. In Bathinda, 4 child labourers were rescued from Hotel Rohit, Pappu Dhaba, and Balaji Pagari House.

Labour Minister Anmol Gagan Maan directed officials to work tirelessly to free the state from child labour. The department will continue to conduct raids and take strict action against violators.

This drive is a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of children in Punjab.
