The Punjab government has released ₹1,147 crore under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), providing financial assistance directly into the bank accounts of nearly 33 lakh women across the state.
Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category received ₹4,500 each, including three monthly instalments of ₹1,500. Women from other categories received ₹3,000 each, consisting of three instalments of ₹1,000 each.
The payments were released to beneficiaries whose registrations were completed till June 25, 2026.
Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana Over 66 Lakh Women Registered Under Scheme
The Punjab government stated that registrations under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana are continuing across the state, with more than 66 lakh women already enrolled.
Officials said women who complete their registration after the current payment cycle will be included in the upcoming instalment process.
Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said the successful completion of the first payment cycle reflects the government’s commitment to providing transparent and timely financial assistance to eligible women.
Scheme Aims to Strengthen Women’s Financial Independence
Dr. Baljit Kaur said the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana has been introduced to provide financial security and dignity to women while ensuring that benefits reach them directly.
She added that the assistance provided under the scheme will not affect existing welfare benefits. Women already receiving widow, disability or old-age pensions will continue to receive those benefits separately.
Women Share Experiences After Receiving Payments
Several beneficiaries across Punjab shared their experiences after receiving the first instalment under the scheme. Many women said that receiving money directly into their own bank accounts gave them a sense of independence and confidence.

Kuldeep Kaur from Mustaba Jatta village in Gurdaspur district said the payment was an emotional moment for her as it was the first time she received financial support directly in her own account.
Another beneficiary, Harmeet Kaur from Ghummankalan village, said she learnt about the scheme through a village awareness camp and plans to use the amount for personal and household needs.
Financial Support Promotes Women Empowerment
The Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana is being presented by the Punjab government as an initiative aimed at strengthening women’s financial security and promoting equality within families and society.
Beneficiaries said the scheme sends a message that daughters are an important part of families and that empowering women contributes to the progress of society.
Support for Women in Need
Kiran, a widow from Dhuri in Sangrur district, said the financial assistance would provide crucial support during a difficult period of her life.
The Punjab government has stated that its focus remains on ensuring that every eligible woman receives the benefits of the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana through a transparent DBT system, helping women achieve greater financial independence and dignity.
