PUNJAB NEWS : Teachers and students of Punjabi University, Patiala, on Monday expressed deep appreciation for Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for releasing ₹429.24 crore under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, helping students from marginalized sections pursue higher education — a step seen as a major stride in fulfilling the vision of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution.
Prabhjeet Kaur from Malerkotla, a BCA (Hons.) student, shared that her father is a daily wage worker and it was extremely difficult to support the education of five children. She said that thanks to the efforts of the Chief Minister and the scholarship scheme, she has been able to continue her studies. Prabhjeet credited this turning point in her life to Baba Sahib and the state government.
Muskaan Devi, another BCA (Hons.) student, said she feels fortunate that the government is carrying forward Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy by empowering students from underprivileged backgrounds. She said the scheme has helped give wings to their aspirations and enabled them to contribute meaningfully to Punjab’s growth.
Gurleen Kaur, a B.Tech Mechanical Engineering student, called the scheme a lifeline for students aiming to pursue their goals. She thanked both Baba Sahib and the state government for making education more accessible.
Prof. Ravinder Kaur from the Physiotherapy Department highlighted the key features of the scheme and praised the government for its timely implementation, enabling students to continue their academic journeys without interruption.
Dr. Jagpreet Kaur, another faculty member, noted that she had seen first-hand how many students had benefited from the scheme. She emphasized that for students enrolled in professional courses — which often have higher fees — this scheme has proven to be a game changer, opening doors that would otherwise remain shut due to financial constraints.
