Punjab News : Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian on Monday inaugurated two new water supply schemes worth Rs.1.11 crore in villages Naharpur and Narowali of the Dera Baba Nanak Assembly constituency. He was accompanied by local MLA S. Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, AAP District President and Chairman of the District Planning Committee Gurdaspur Sh. Joban Randhawa. On this occasion, the Minister also planted saplings at both project sites.
Dedicating the schemes to the residents, S. Hardeep Singh Mundian stated that the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government is ensuring access to safe drinking water for 100% of Punjab’s population. He informed that in village Naharpur, Rs.62.36 lakh has been spent to provide potable water to 153 households. The facilities include a deep bore well, a 25,000-liter storage tank, pipelines, solar panels, a chlorinator, and new water connections. Additionally, 48 toilets have been built in the village at a cost of Rs.7.20 lakh under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Similarly, in Narowali, a water supply project worth Rs.48.68 lakh has been launched, benefiting 58 households with access to clean drinking water. Alongside, 27 toilets have been constructed in the village at a cost of Rs.4.05 lakh.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister reiterated that the Mann Government is fully committed to public welfare. He highlighted that with 300 units of free power every month, more than 90% of state consumers are receiving zero bills. In the last three and a half years, over 55,000 government jobs have been provided. He further mentioned transformative reforms under “Sikhya Kranti” and “Sehat Kranti” and announced that from October 2025, the government will roll out the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana, under which every family will get health insurance coverage up to Rs.10 lakh.
MLA S. Gurdeep Singh Randhawa thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Minister Mundian, noting that both water supply projects were completed in record time. He shared that since the AAP government took charge, 13 water supply schemes worth Rs.6.82 crore have been implemented in the Dera Baba Nanak constituency. In addition, 54 Community Sanitary Complexes have been built with Rs.1.62 crore, and 1,480 toilets are under construction at a cost of Rs.13.4 crore, of which 898 have already been completed while work on the remaining 582 is underway.
Prominent attendees included SDM Jyotsna Singh, Chief Engineer Rajesh Dubey, SE Narinder Singh, XEN Vijay Kumar, XEN Dhaliwal, SDO Kanwarjeet Singh Rattra, SDO Rahul, Tehsildar Rajinder Singh, Chairman Balwinder Singh Haruwal, and local sarpanches Kashmir Singh (Naharpur), Hansa Singh (Narowali), and Rajwinder Kaur (Khaddar), among others.
