PUNJAB NEWS : In a significant milestone, Punjab has been honoured as an ‘Emerging State in Organ Donation and Transplantation’ during the 15th Indian Organ Donation Day (IODD) held in New Delhi.
The award ceremony, organised by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, was attended by Union Health Minister JP Nadda.
Director of Medical Education & Research (DRME) Punjab, Dr. Avnish Kumar, received the award along with steering committee member Dr. Akash Deep Aggarwal and SOTTO Punjab Nodal Officer Dr. Gagneen Kaur Sandhu.

Punjab’s Medical Education and Research Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, congratulated the department and the SOTTO team for this remarkable achievement, which reflects the state’s exceptional progress in raising awareness, improving infrastructure, and achieving notable milestones in deceased organ donation.
He reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s dedication, under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, to intensify these efforts by continuing to promote organ donation awareness, strengthen infrastructure, and cultivate a culture that can transform and save countless lives in the state.
