Punjab Police Demolish Properties of Drug Smugglers in Amritsar and Patiala in Ongoing Crackdown
As part of the intensified anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ launched under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directive, Punjab Police, with support from local authorities, demolished properties linked to two drug traffickers in Amritsar and Patiala on Tuesday.
In Amritsar’s Mode village, police used a bulldozer to demolish the residence of Ranjit Singh, a known drug peddler with a record of 12 criminal cases, including six under the NDPS Act, registered across districts like Amritsar and Ludhiana. SP (Investigation) Aditya Warrier, who oversaw the action, warned that anyone profiting from drug-related activities will face property seizure or demolition. He reaffirmed the state government’s zero-tolerance stance toward drug trafficking.
Meanwhile, in Patiala, four commercial shops illegally built on residential plots by the family of drug accused Gurtej Singh alias Bunty were also torn down. The shops, located in Baba Deep Singh Nagar, fell under Urban Estate Police Station’s jurisdiction. SP City Palwinder Singh Cheema said Gurtej Singh is named in two NDPS Act cases, and the demolition followed a final notice issued by the Municipal Corporation on April 11, 2025.
The Patiala operation was jointly executed by the District Police, Municipal Corporation, and officials including Assistant Town Planners Karanjit Singh and Bikramjit Singh, with police ensuring public safety. Naib Tehsildar Arman Joshan acted as the Duty Magistrate during the demolition.
