Punjab Police : The 5th Onshore Security Coordination Committee (OSCC) meeting for Punjab was held on Thursday at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh, under the chairmanship of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Security SS Srivastava, representing DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from Punjab Police, including ADGP Internal Security Shive Kumar Verma and ADGP Cybercrime V Neeraja, along with OSCC Chairman and ED (O&M) GAIL RK Singh, Advisor (Security) GAIL Saurabh Tolumbia, and representatives from various oil and gas companies, the Intelligence Bureau, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and other relevant agencies.
During the session, representatives from GAIL, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, HMEL, Think Gas, and Torrent Gas shared insights into their operations and outlined challenges in securing their installations.
Key discussions focused on strengthening security measures, enhancing protocols, and utilizing advanced CCTV surveillance for better monitoring.
Addressing the gathering, ADGP SS Srivastava stressed the importance of a strong information network to combat issues such as oil theft and pipeline leaks. He highlighted the necessity of regular mock drills and updates to contingency plans, particularly in high-risk areas. Reaffirming Punjab Police’s commitment to supporting the oil and gas sector, he encouraged stakeholders to reach out for any security concerns and emphasized the need for seamless coordination to safeguard national assets.
ADGP Shive Kumar Verma underscored the importance of collaboration between oil and gas companies, local police, and the administration to ensure robust security and effective governance.
ADGP Cybercrime V Neeraja addressed the rising threat of cyber security breaches and assured comprehensive support from the Punjab Cyber Crime Division. She proposed deploying specialized teams to assess cyber security frameworks and offer recommendations to enhance security at critical installations.
