         Punjab Police :  As part of the ongoing effort to make Punjab a safe and secure state, as envisioned by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla launched a campaign against the dangerous Chinese kite string, also known as ‘manjha,’ on Wednesday.

The initiative is designed to prevent the sale and use of these dangerous kite flying strings, following the instructions of Punjab Police , Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

Punjab Police ,Special DGP Arpit Shukla, along with Commissioner of Police (CP) Swapan Sharma in Jalandhar and CP Kuldeep Singh Chahal in Ludhiana, visited local markets in both cities. They engaged with kite vendors and urged them to stop selling Chinese plastic kite strings.

He also encouraged shopkeepers to report any illegal sale or use of manjha, warning that strict action would be taken against those involved.

Punjab Police ,The Special DGP mentioned that the police have acted quickly against those selling the Chinese kite string. Over the past 20 days, police teams have seized 80,879 Chinese dor bundles and filed 90 First Information Reports (FIRs) against individuals involved in the sale of these dangerous kite flying strings across the state.

In addition to launching the campaign against Chinese kite string, he also oversaw security arrangements and special operations in Jalandhar and Ludhiana in preparation for Republic Day 2025. He conducted well-planned and strategic raids at key locations throughout both cities.

Punjab Police ,Special DGP Arpit Shukla directed an increase in police presence at public spaces and called for enhanced surveillance and patrolling in critical areas within the jurisdictions of Jalandhar and Ludhiana Commissionerates.

He also initiated a series of comprehensive security operations, with particular emphasis on increasing surveillance in crowded market areas, malls, and other public spaces.

The Special DGP instructed all CPs/SSPs to set up more police checkpoints in their areas. Police personnel will carry out detailed inspections of vehicles passing through these checkpoints to ensure that as many vehicles as possible are checked.
