In the National Youth Festival organised by the Government of India, Punjab won the second place in the folk song competition and the third place in the folk dance competition. Youth Services Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer has congratulated the winning youth.
The 27th National Youth Festival was organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the city of Nashik in Maharashtra in which youth from 28 states and 8 Union Territories of India participated. Under the leadership of Assistant Director of Youth Services Department Punjab Kulwinder Singh and Raghbir Singh Mann, 100 youth of Punjab participated in various competitions. Taranpreet Singh of Punjab won the second place in the folk song competition and the Bhangra team of Punjab won the third place in the group folk dance. The second place team got a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh and the third place team got a prize money of Rs. 75 thousand.
Youth Services Minister Meet Hayer congratulated the winners and said that they have brought laurels to the name of Punjab on the National stage. He said that the State government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to promote the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. This position of Punjab in National competitions is a source of inspiration for the young generation of the state.
