Punjab State Institute of Sports:Preference given to those venues where game is popular

Punjab State Institute of Sports (PIS) has announced the schedule of trials for 2024-25 session PIS residential wings of Amritsar, Patiala, Mohali, Bathinda, Ropar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Barnala, Tarn Taran, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Mahilpur, Phagwara and Dasuha. For the selection of players in different age groups in these wings, trials will be held from February 15 to March 19 at different places according to the sport and age group.

Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that as per the efforts being made by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann to make Punjab the leading state of the country in sports again, the trial system has been made more rational to identify the unique talent of young players at the ground level and provide them with opportunities to progress.

He said that in the region where the game is played more or is more popular, those places have been prioritized for the trials of the same game so that a maximum number of players can be a part of the trials. He said that the sport-wise trials for identifying the right talent will be held from February 15 to March 19 so that the officials of the sports department can carry out the entire system smoothly under their personal supervision.

The details of the trials have been uploaded by the sports department on the department’s website www.pbsports.punjab.gov.in where the players who are willing to give the trials can check the date and venue of the trials. Players have to report at 8.30 am on the day of trials. The player appearing in the trial must be a resident of the state of Punjab and should bring an Aadhaar card/voter card, birth certificate and two passport size photographs as proof of residence. TA/DA will not be given to the players participating in the trials.
