The Punjab State Women Commission has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patiala, to submit a report by April 7, 2025, detailing the actions taken in response to allegations of misconduct against a woman in Jansuha village, Patiala District.
Acting on its own initiative after media reports surfaced, the Commission instructed a police officer of SP rank to carry out a comprehensive investigation. Invoking its authority under Section 12 of the Punjab State Women Commission Act, 2001, the Commission has demanded an immediate update from the police.
Chairperson Raj Lali Gill emphasized that strict measures will be taken against anyone found guilty of harassing or pressuring the woman, based on the inquiry’s outcome.
“The Commission will not stand for any form of intimidation, harassment, or infringement of women’s rights,” the Chairperson firmly stated, reaffirming the Commission’s dedication to ensuring justice and preventing such incidents in the future.
