One year of Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign Punjab marks 36,178 FIRs, 51,648 arrests and ₹16.70 crore recovery as Baltej Pannu says Mann Govt intensifies systematic war against drugs.
Marking one year of the Mann Government’s flagship anti-drug initiative, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Media In-charge and Nasha Mukti Morcha Chief Spokesperson Baltej Pannu said the Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign Punjab has evolved into one of the most systematic and structured anti-narcotics drives anywhere in the world.
Addressing the media, Baltej Pannu described the campaign as a historic, people-powered movement that has fundamentally transformed Punjab’s fight against drugs into a result-oriented mission.

Record FIRs, Arrests and Major Drug Seizures
Sharing official figures from the past year, Pannu highlighted the scale of enforcement under the Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign Punjab:
36,178 FIRs registered
51,648 arrests made
₹16.70 crore drug money recovered
He further revealed that massive quantities of narcotics were seized, including nearly 2,277 kg of heroin, over 29,000 kg of poppy husk, 686 kg of opium, more than 800 kg of ganja, along with charas, cocaine, synthetic drugs, tablets, capsules and injections. According to Pannu, Punjab recorded the highest volume of major drug recoveries in the country during this period.
Systematic and Multi-Dimensional Strategy
Baltej Pannu emphasized that the Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign Punjab was launched after detailed groundwork, recognizing that no battle connected to society can succeed without public participation.
Under the Nasha Mukti Morcha framework, Punjab was divided into five operational zones — Doaba, Majha, Malwa East, Malwa West and Malwa Central. District- and constituency-level structures were created, while Village Defence Committees were established across the state.
Members of these committees were provided with a secure mobile application enabling them to report drug peddlers directly to police headquarters. Action is mandated within 48 hours, and over 2,000 verified complaints have already resulted in FIRs and arrests.
Rehabilitation and Structural Reform
Beyond enforcement, the Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign Punjab has focused on rehabilitation. Pannu stated that de-addiction centres have been transformed from jail-like facilities into supportive recovery spaces.
Skill training programs in plumbing, electrical work, food services and other trades have been introduced with support from ITIs and private firms. The goal, he said, is to ensure that individuals recovering from addiction re-enter society with dignity and sustainable employment opportunities.

Targeting Supply Chains and Political Nexus
Criticizing previous administrations, Pannu alleged that between 2007 and 2017, the Akali-BJP government allowed drug networks to deepen through political patronage. He further claimed that the subsequent Congress government failed to dismantle the entrenched nexus despite public promises.
“In contrast, the Mann Government has shown consistent willpower to break supply chains and act against masterminds,” he said.
Pannu asserted that the crackdown has forced many smugglers to flee Punjab. “Locked houses of absconding smugglers stand as evidence of strict policing. This action will only intensify,” he added.
From ‘Udta Punjab’ to ‘Rangla Punjab’
Concluding his remarks, Baltej Pannu said the fight is not merely administrative but generational.
“Punjab suffered for over two decades. This battle is for our youth and the future. We are determined to transform ‘Udta Punjab’ into ‘Rangla Punjab’ through the sustained success of the Yudh Nashean Virudh campaign Punjab,” he said.
As the campaign enters its second year, the Mann Government has indicated that the war against drugs will continue with greater intensity, deeper community involvement, and unwavering resolve.
